Individuals Romania Ministry of Defence -- One officer was killed and four other soldiers were wounded today, April 7, at around 7.45 (Romania time) in Afghanistan.

Captain Vasile-Iuliu Unguras driving a patrol mission, consisting of four Humvee vehicles in the maneuver battalion 21 on the highway A1, Kandahar – Kabul, 

20 km. north-east of Qalat, one of the cars passed over an explosive mast.

Following the explosion, and the officer lost his life, and four other soldiers were wounded. 

After the attack, the area was secured and the wounded soldiers were evacuated to military hospitals in Kandahar and Lagman.

Individuals RomaniaGulf News -- Bucharest: The defence ministry says a Romanian soldier has been killed in crossfire with insurgents in Afghanistan. 



A ministry statement says Captain Petre Tiberius was leading a rapid intervention mission Friday to assist allies who had come under attack from insurgents. 



He was struck by a bullet in crossfire. The statement said he was transported by helicopter but died en route to the hospital.

Individuals RomaniaZiare.com -- The sergeant major Chira, killed two days ago in Afghanistan, has a brother on the front. Mom brothers Chira was never agreed that the guys they go to the front. 



His brother Claudius, Ovidiu, went to the front with it, in January 2009, informs the Truth. Chira brothers were in the same quota, but was Ovidiu health. 



"Claudius was the second mission.

The first time was in Iraq to get the money for the wedding. She wanted everything to be perfect for him and for Oana, his wife. In Afghanistan he left because he wanted to collect money an apartment, not to stay in rent.

Individuals RomaniaFinanciarul, Romania -- A Romanian soldier was killed and other four were injured on Sunday morning in Afghanistan while on patrol, reads a release sent to Agerpres by the Ministry of Defence (MAp).

"Troops of the 30 battalion Mountaineers Dragoslavele were on patrol on A1 (Qalat-Kabul) highway at about 20 km. from Qalat. The third armoured personnel carrier out of four hit an improvised explosive device (IED). Senior sergeant Dragos Traian Alexandrescu was killed in the explosion,'' reads the release.

The Romanian soldier was married with two children and has been working for the defence ministry since 2003.

Individuals RomaniaZiua On Line -- A Romanian soldier of Infantry Battalion 300 of St. Andrew "Galati died, Friday, in Afghanistan, following an attack with light weapons, and three others were wounded, said spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense, Andreea Dumitru.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the soldiers were on a patrol mission on Highway A1 between Qalat and Kabul. The patrol was formed by four armoured Conveyors, which were attacked by insurgent forces with arms and light rocket propelled grenades, about 50 kilometers from Qalat.

Following the attack, Marius Claudius Covrig, aged 29 years, was killed and three other colleagues wounded. The deceased was transported to the Base Lagman in Qalat, and the wounded received medical assistance on the spot, and continued their mission, participating in the security zone in accordance with standard operating procedures in such situations, mentions comments, taken over by NewsIn. In support of the soldiers assaulted was sent the battalion rapid intervention force.

Individuals RomaniaPeoples Daily Online -- A Romanian soldier dispatched to Afghanistan was killed and another was injured on Thursday, Romania's Defense Ministry announced.

Private Ionut Cosmin Sandu was killed and Corporal Silviu Atanasiu sustained leg injuries when their Humvee vehicle ran over a makeshift explosive device.

The troops were on a patrolling mission in Zabul province, the ministry added.

Security measures were taken in the area immediately after the blast, in line with the standard operation procedures in such situations and the wounded soldier was urgently taken to the hospital at Langman base, where he is given specialized medical care.

Individuals Romania Afriquenligne -- A Romanian soldier was killed on Thursday in Afghanistan and two others were wounded after their armored personnel carrier ran over a makeshift device. According to Romanian daily Evenimentul Zilei, this brings up to seven the number of Romanian soldiers dead on the 'anti-terror' front in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sergeant Major Aurel Marcu, 31, died immediately. Four other members of the team were all injured. Two of the soldiers, lieutenant Nicolae Grigore and lead-soldier Alex Zafiu, were transported by helicopter to a Kandahar military hospital, a Romanian Defense Ministry release informs. The other two received medical assistance in Qalat.

roembus.org -- A second Romanian serviceman has died of his wounds in Afghanistan on Friday after a guerrilla attack earlier this week.

Sergeant Major Mihail Anton Samuila, 35-year-old, was critically wounded on Tuesday when unidentified gunmen opened fire on his convoy of armored vehicles from the 151 Infantry Battalion 'Razboieni'. The convoy was returning from a mission in southern Afghanistan, near the Pakistan border, when the incident occurred at 1205 GMT, near the town of Spin Boldak.

Another Romanian serviceman, Sergeant Major Fogorasi Iosif-Silviu, 33 years old, was mortally wounded in the same attack.

roembus.org -- Mediafax Agency - Over 200 American servicemen from the Kandahar military base in Afghanistan attended a military and memorial ceremony to commemorate the death of Sergeant Major Iosif Silviu Fogorasi, a Romanian serviceman killed in action earlier this week.

Sergeant Major Fogorasi Iosif-Silviu, 33-year-old, was mortally wounded near town of Spin Boldak in southern Afghanistan when his convoy of armored vehicles came under attack on Tuesday.

According to the spokesperson of the Romanian Ministry of National Defense, Lt. Gelaledin Nezir, only a delegation from the US command was initially supposed to attend the memorial service.

domino.kappa.ro -- Born at Tecuci, Galati county, on the 31st of January 1979. Killed in Action in Afghanistan, on Sunday, the 24th of April 2005,15:00 hours (Roumanian Time). May God forgive him and rest his soul in peace! We will always remember him!

Sergeant Narcis Sonei, from the Roumanian 3ooth Infantry Batallion "St. Andrew" from Galati, was coming back to the Kandahar Base from a Recon mission in the Panjawyi district of Afghanistan.

Sergeant Narcis Sonei was killed in action when his Amphibious Armoured Transporter (the first on a five vehicles convoy) crossed over an explosive device, remotely controlled, placed on the road,when they were 60 km away from Kandahar Base.
