La Libre -- “The Defense Minister Pieter De Crem, head of the Defense Staff, General Charles-Henri Delcour, and the entire staff of the defense present their condolences and show their support for the wife, children and the family of Alexandre Carraro and his colleagues in the posting "still on mission in Kabul, the release concludes.

The Belgian military suffering from bacterial meningitis and repatriated to Afghanistan Wednesday, Corporal Alexandre Carraro, belonging to the regiment of Chasseurs Ardenne Marche-en-Famenne, died Thursday evening, announced the Ministry of Defense.

"The defense has the difficult task of informing that Corporal Alexandre Carraro died on the evening of August 13, in the presence of his family," said his press service, without specifying the place of death.
